Lana Del Rey was spotted leaving Giorgio Baldi Restaurant in Santa Monica, CA on Wednesday, August 2 with boyfriend Francesco Carrozzini after having dinner. The couple were spotted leaving in two separate cars.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Dan Auerbach spoke about working with Lana Del Rey & producing her last album ‘Ultraviolence’. You can read what he had to say below.
You produced most of Lana Del Rey’s last album. What was that like?
It was stressful, but at the end of the day, it was really enjoyable. She’s such a force, and it was cool to go into her world for a little while. “Brooklyn Baby” — fuck, I love how that song sounds.
Do you think she gets the respect she deserves as an artist?
No, I don’t think she does. But you know that. I don’t need to tell you that. I’m not worried about her, because the people that love her are fucking obsessed.
Lana Del Rey is on the cover of V Magazine’s “Best of the Best” issue which was shot by Steven Klein. The issue will be out in stores on September 10th & is already out for pre-order online here. The issue contains an interview of Lana Del Rey by her good friend James Franco where inside she discusses her controversial quote about feminism from 2014. “The luxury we have as a younger generation is being able to figure out where we want to go from here, which is why I’ve said things like, ‘I don’t focus on feminism, I focus on the future,’” she told Franco. “It’s not to say that there’s not more to do in that area. I’ve gotten to witness through history the evolution of so many movements and now I’m standing at the forefront of new technological movements.”
She continued, “I’m not undermining other issues. But I feel like that’s obvious, like I shouldn’t even have to bring that up.”
On her album ‘Honeymoon’, “It’s the word that sums up the ultimate dream. I mean, life is a honeymoon, y’know?? Life, love, paradise, freedoms … that’s forever.”
Nylon Español is celebrating the anniversary of Nylon Español and Nylon Guys Español along with the launch of the new printed Fall/Winter collectors item. The Weekend was recently interviewed by Pitch Fork & was asked about his collaboration with Lana Del Rey on his album ‘Beauty Behind The Madness’. Read what he said below!
Pitchfork: What character did Lana Del Rey play on the album?
The Weeknd: Me and Lana have been friends for a long time. I’ve inspired her, she’s inspired me. I feel like we’ve always been talking to each other through our music. She is the girl in my music, and I am the guy in her music. It’s just this ghostly collaboration that feels the most natural on the whole album. Even the whole monologue intro on “Lonely Star” from Thursday—I just realized now that that’s Lana. That’s Lana’s voice. [laughs] I mean, it’s my voice pitched up, but it’s her, it’s who she is. She was definitely the first feature that I wanted to bring on this album.
Despite hinting fairly heavily earlier in the year that he’d be appearing on Lana Del Rey’s new album ‘Honeymoon’, Mark Ronson has now admitted that he won’t play a part in ‘Honeymoon’ after all.
Earlier this year Mark stated in an interview, “I’m going to do some recording with Lana Del Rey today and tomorrow. I found this cool old studio out here [in Los Angeles]. She has some songs and I said I had some demo ideas, and if they are any good, then maybe she’ll like them and we’ll go from there.”
In a recent interview with Digital Spy Ronson stated, ”I hate to crap all over your excitement, but we just worked a couple [of] days together and I think she’s amazing, but we didn’t actually end up doing anything for her album,” he says. “I said it and I shouldn’t have opened my big mouth, but I love that track ‘Honeymoon’ and the stuff I’ve heard from the record is great.”
Lana Del Rey is paralyzed by loss on her hypnotic new track, “Terrence Loves You.” “I lost myself when I lost you,” she sings over piano and moaning saxophone. “But I still got jazz when I’ve got those blues.” The song, which teases the lyrics to David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” (“Ground Control to Major Tom”), is Del Rey’s latest tease of her upcoming fourth LP, Honeymoon, out September 18th.
